NJ Turnpike Interchange 6-9 Widening

Central New Jersey

The widening involved six new lanes, 9 new and modified structures and design of two high-speed crossovers. Maintenance of traffic and staging designs involved high speed cross-over to transition the construction staging. Project included horizontal and vertical alignments, water quality designs, supplemental survey, extensive utility relocation, while partitioning work into two separate construction contracts. The Project required: highway and roadside safety design including assessing needs for guide rails and Length of Needs, establishing Clear Zone, signing and striping, landscaping, construction staging and MPT plans and construction contract documents. Project was delivered in accordance with the NJTA Design Manual, Traffic Control Manual, Design Standards, Standard Plans and Specifications. The project involved 9 new or modified structures including detailed hydraulic calculations for the extension of one culvert in both directions and new bridges carrying mainline Turnpike over Millstone River. Arora was responsible for compliance with the NJDEP Stormwater Management Rules and the design of all roadway drainage systems. Detailed Scour Analysis was required for the mainline bridges over Millstone River. Arora was responsible for the final overview and management of hydrologic and hydraulic design of drainage and stormwater management facilities such as the sizing of stormwater basins, and the compilation of NJDEP and SESC permit reports and plans. Arora assisted in the preparation of the SESC certification for submission to the Freehold and Mercer Soil Conservation Districts.
