SR 39, Section 012-Corridor Improvement Project

Preliminary Engineering, Final Design and Construction Services for this traffic calming project through historic downtown Linglestown. Arora and Associates, P.C. designed roundabout intersections at the Mountain Road and Blue Mountain Parkway intersections to avoid signalization of the thoroughfare, something the Linglestown Village Committee was set against. The roundabouts were sized to facilitate vehicular traffic and to discourage large trucks. Other traffic calming devices include intersection neckdowns, center island medians, raised crosswalks and chichanes. The streetscapes will include shade trees along the roadway, extensive sidewalk to reestablish the town square area and stamped crosswalks. A comprehensive urban design scheme is planned for the streetscape that incorporates street tree plantings, period lighting and decorative pavements.
