Route 7 Over Conrail

Arora and Associates, P.C. (Arora), as a prime consultant, was responsible for the superstructure replacement and substructure rehabilitation of an existing 4-lane 45 span 1,225’ long and 45’ wide bridge carrying Route 7 over Conrail. The superstructure consists of 7 units of 3-span continuous steel girder segments and the remaining spans are concrete slab. The bridge substructure underwent major rehabilitation and superstructure was replaced while maintaining one lane of traffic in each direction with extensive MPT schemes. The project required knowledge of Conrail procedures and Railroad Safety Training, CSX Permit Application Process and Site-Specific Work Plans. The project was advanced in accordance with the AASHTO Design Manual, NJDOT Bridges and Structures Design Manual, NJDOT Procedures Manual and NJDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. All work was performed within the allocated budgets and schedule. Overall construction cost was $16M.
