Highway Design Engineer (Job no. L-2021-18)

Responsibilities:

As a member of an interdisciplinary team,

• Prepare plans, specifications, estimates, schedules, design exception reports and other studies for roadway improvement projects
• Perform design of highways and roadways including horizontal and vertical alignments , roadside safety features, grading , ROW limits and earthwork ROW limits
• Prepare design sketches and drawings using CADD
• Cooperate and coordinate with other design team members
• Supervise and check work of less experienced engineers
• Visit project sites to investigate conditions
• Review contractor submittals such as working drawings and RFIs

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering
• 5-10 years of progressive experience in civil or highway engineering:
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation
• Familiarity with MUTCD
• NY or NJ PE preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
