Company History

Since 1981, Arora and Associates, P.C. has developed from a small structural engineering firm into an integrated, multi-discipline and award-winning organization with offices in four states serving the Northeast and Midwest.

  • 1981
    • Surinder Arora forms Arora and Associates, P.C. to provide structural engineering services to central New Jersey.
  • 1984
    • Arora purchases its first PC to run structural analysis software and establishes a Bridge Inspection Department.
  • 1985
    • Arora is awarded its first project as a prime consultant and establishes an Electrical Engineering Department.
    • Bolstered by success, Arora opens its first office in Lawrenceville, NJ.
  • 1986
    • Arora establishes a Geotechnical Engineering Department.
  • 1989
    • Arora expands into the New York arena with an office in midtown Manhattan.
  • 1990
    • As the company creates a Survey Department, a second office in Lawrenceville is required to accommodate further growth.
  • 1992
    • Arora establishes a Utility Engineering Department.
  • 1993
    • Arora's staff grows to 50 employees. Arora consolidates its operations in New Jersey with the opening of a new corporate headquarters in Lawrenceville.
  • 1994
    • Surinder Arora is named Engineer of the Year by the Professional Engineers' Society of Mercer County (PESMC), New Jersey.
  • 1995
    • Arora graduates from the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program and is certified as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE).
    • Arora establishes a Highway Department.
  • 1996
    • Arora receives a Professional Development Award from PESMC.
  • 1999
    • Arora's corporate headquarters moves to its present location in Lawrenceville as rapid growth necessitates a new and larger home.
  • 2000
    • Surinder Arora is named Engineer of the Year by the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers (NJSPE).
  • 2001
    • During its 20th year in the industry, Arora acquires the New Jersey operations of McFarland & Johnson and maintains their office in Woodbury.
    • Arora opens an office in Harrisburg, its first Pennsylvania office.
    • Narendra Khambhati receives an Excellence in Management Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers, New Jersey Section (ASCE-NJ).
  • 2002
    • Arora opens an office in Robbinsdale, Minnesota to serve the West.
    • Narendra Khambhati is named Engineer of the Year by PESMC.
  • 2003
    • David Hutchinson is named Young Engineer of the Year by PESMC.
  • 2004
    • Arora acquires the RBA Group's Pennsylvania operations.
    • Secaucus Transfer Lautenberg Station receives an Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC-NJ).
    • Mandeep Arora is named Young Engineer of the Year by PESMC and NJSPE.
    • Arora's NYC branch relocates to a new office in the Trinity Centre of downtown Manhattan.
  • 2005
    • Arora opens a second Pennsylvania office in Bethlehem.
    • D & R Canal Pedestrian Bridge wins an Engineering Excellence Award from the New Jersey Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI).
    • I-95 Scotch Road Interchange is named Project of the Year by PESMC.
    • Secaucus Transfer Lautenberg Station is named Project of the Year by NJSPE.
  • 2006
    • I-95 & Scotch Road Interchange project wins the NJSPE Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award.
    • D & R Canal Pedestrian Bridge receives a Distinguished Award at the ACEC-NJ 2006 Engineering Excellence Awards.
    • Arora and Associates, P.C. celebrates its 25th Anniversary.
  • 2007
    • Chesterfield-Sykesville Road over Black's Creek Bridge replacement project receives Honorable Mention Award from New Jersey Concrete and Aggregate Association.
